How is the iPhone version of Fragger coming along?

R u sticking with C++ or AS3, and is it going to be Fragger2 or just Fragger iPhone. I’m curious how flash game developers are planning out their mobile migration with Apple.

Will Apple allow the AS3 based apps from CS5 to publish to the App Store? Maybe a game developer like yourself has an inside perspective?

The iPhone version is almost ready, but I halted my own C++ based version a while ago for various reasons, however a third party dev is porting and re-skinning it.
They are almost done and it should be out soon. Be on the lookout for a small promotional flash version coming out soon in support of the Iphone ver.

I’m actually continuing development of my projects mainly in C++ and some C# as well.
Fragger to will be coming out, definitely, but it will be a standalone version, non-flash with an included level editor (and many more improvements), but it will still be a little while til it’s release. I might do a promotional Flash ver for it as well..But we’ll see.

In my case, I’m definitely not migrating to the iPhone/iPod touch platforms. I wanted to port Fragger because it seemed like an exellent fit for the platform, and many people asked for it. But my preference for games is definitely not with the iTouch platform.

As for Apple allowing AS3 based apps in the AppStore : Some are already in the AppStore. According o Adobe, these apps are actually compiled to native iPhone apps, meaning there isn’t be any virtual machine executing the code underneath, which is what, as I understand, Apple doesn’t allow on their platform. So I see no reason why they would ban such apps, they should *technically* not even be able to tell if the app is made from flash or not, since it get’s converted to native code.

Nice to see there’s still people out there :)
