Little dude from new game

Sketch

Though I’d post some info on a a project I’m trying to get going. It’s not much, just a little sketch from the character the player gets to control. I’m not gonna post any particular info on the game right now, since it’s too early but hopefully if I it takes off then I’ll keep posting more info and images.

On a side node, I am currently considering creating a halloween themed Fragger game with some of the features that were going to appear on the second one, but of course, not everything, it would take too long. However, I’ve lost track of time and notices that halloween is just around the corner, so scratch that, it wouldn’t make it in time. So perhaps a Christmas themed version would be more ideal. I wonder if anyone would be interested in seeing this come to light? Let me know, if anyone is still out there.

Flash apps in the Iphone

October 5th, 2009 Harold 1 comment

Well, interesting developments at Adobe. Soon ( or soon enough?), Adobe will be releasing tools to be able to convert flash based content into native iPhone apps:
Flash on the Iphone

As you may know, I was working on an iPhone version of Fragger. It was taking a while since I rarely work on native code and so I really didn’t have much previously saved code that could help me speed-up development as I do with AS3. So I had to do everything from scratch, which is a lot of work, even when using supplementary libraries. And on top of that, well it’s just a slower target to develop for :) .

I was pretty far along, but still given this interesting turn of events, I believe it might not be a bad idea to keep working with AS3 and scrap the C++ version.

So good news is: I should be making a Fragger 2 soon, since it seems I will be able to relatively seamlessly generate an iphone version from the AS3 version.

Bad news is: The Iphone will most likely get bombarded with new actionscript-generated apps once this is available. I don’t know if the acceptance process will filter out a lot of the weak apps, but still, it might be even harder to get work noticed.

Oh well, at least I can focus on gameplay again and stop working on low-level stuff. Though that was a little fun too.

Also, I’ve been working on a fun side-project using haXe, Hopefuly I can post some stuff soon-ish :)

My brother, MakubexGB (as he goes by online),
has posted a video on youtube demonstrating some skilled grenade shots that will get the lowest par possible for the level. Some of these were by design, some were some fun testing discoveries :)
Check it out:

Feel free to post yours if you have any cool tricks!
